Kenya’s security and intelligence agencies appear to have facilitated the entry of Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Aden (“Taliye Shub”), former commander of Somalia’s Custodial Corps, into the country via the Mandera corridor after an attack on his residence.

At least three people were reported killed and several others, including Shub and family members, injured.

He was first treated locally, then moved to the Ethiopian side, and later flown to Nairobi by military helicopter.
This is not a routine medical evacuation of a civilian. It is the quiet clearance of a senior Somali security figure who had just been at the centre of an armed political confrontation.

When Kenyan military or intelligence channels wave such individuals through Mandera without public accountability, Nairobi steadily becomes a rear base and safe house for Somali factional actors and the foreign services that back them.

The pattern is already visible: Laftagareen himself is based in Nairobi. Rival Somali camps, Ethiopian security elements, Turkish military-intelligence interests, and others now treat the Kenyan capital as convenient territory. Once that reputation solidifies, Kenya imports the next phase of Somalia’s conflicts, targeted killings, surveillance operations, proxy fights, and pressure from Al-Shabaab or other groups who see Nairobi as hosting their enemies.

Kenya has its own border security problems in Mandera, Wajir and Garissa. Turning the capital into an unofficial hub for foreign agencies and exiled commanders does not make the country safer. @LemayianLeiyan Apart from increased incidences of petty theft in Garissa ( Phone snatching),North Eastern is relatively calm albeit the sporadic Kebab related attacks. Community policing + Multi agency approach is the game changer.

Reported: Former prisons chief Gen. Mahad Abdirahman “Taliye Shub” and family members were injured after two missiles struck his home in Doolow. Sources say a Turkish-supplied drone was used; Laftagareen’s camp calls it an assassination attempt. An allegation that remains unverified.
The use of drones/missiles against political opponents if true would mark a dangerous new turn in Somalia’s internal conflicts.

Al-Shabaab adapted for years.;Tactics like Night moves, Motorcycles and donkey carts transport, underground tunnels and lack of phones for commanders is no longer useful.
Cheap airpower is closing that gap. Turkish TB2s and U.S. strikes means a missile can find mid-level guys, not just the big names. The landscape is changing quickly with SNA clearing ground.

Fun fact: communities in north eastern Kenya have an intricate web of intelligence disemmination and the government is contented with it. Majority of raw/timely intelligence normally originates from the public. I.e member of the public to local town elder/Npr/Macawisley to Area Chief/Nis CT team to SOG teams in flung areas to Other stakeholders. These days even Kebab does not move any howly. They avoid being sighted by local herders more than anything. Kwansa SOG teams who do the dirty work are always in constant communication with this far flung communities.

Turkey has deployed a naval task group to Somalia.
Ships including TCG Göksu, Gelibolu and Bartın are escorting the Çağrı Bey drillship and support vessels off the coast. Earlier vessels docked in Mogadishu.
The mission covers maritime security, Somali navy training, and protection of offshore oil exploration under a 10-year pact. Mandate extended to 2028.
