This Prothean I screen-capped from the “From The Ashes” DLC and then made to look like an oil painting in photoshop is the High Commander of the Prothean expeditionary force in 1500BCE…
He needs a name… any suggestions?
People here don't realize how goddamn effective NAFO has been in reducing Russia's bullshit here. Other platforms like TikTok and YouTube are dominated by automated pro-Kremlin and pro-CCP commentary, and these comments are always voted to the top.
For example, here's some top comments from a TikTok video with Sikorski's commentary on beating Russia.
Also, @nikitabier was also great at reducing promotion of automated content, too bad he's no longer working at X as the head of product.
There is a reality check that needs to be had over the last few days involving some volunteers here in Ukraine.
For a lot of the NAFO and online crowd who isn’t here or knows a lot of people involved in the “scene” here. And many make some pretty shit calls when it comes to who is seen as good or bad. You don’t know the numerous open secrets that are known by people on the ground. You don’t know the inner workings of things and the real life reputations that many hold here.
That’s on purpose, the overwhelming majority of people inside of Ukraine and working as press or volunteers have largely chosen to ignore or dismiss bad behavior from a lot them as the notion “anything for victory” or “yeah they might be shitty but at least they say good things” is often thrown up. This includes people from scammers, clout hunger self aggrandizers, all the way to charges of being a pedophile. I’ve heard it all. And when I’ve tried to speak out against it I am left as the lone man saying we should cut out the rot while everyone else is rather apathetic at best or dogmatically following their meal tickets.
This has even led to my professional connections being threatened by sending false “reports,” and even potential threats against my life if I kept “poking the bear.” There are a lot of amazing people doing amazing work here in Ukraine. They often tend to be the ones getting yelled at by NAFO and others when their content creator “daddy” (because it’s usually dudes) get called out or even slightly criticized.
If you aren’t here, if you haven’t spoken with those here who know the open secrets, if you haven’t been here for years working around some of these people. You don’t know better and for those who do know, you discredit yourself immediately.
I have a system. If I am in a similar space with people and you don’t see me positively interacting with someone you think I should? More often than not I know something you don’t or it’s just outside of my wheelhouse.
These are just people. I know many form parasocial connections and everything can look amazing from the outside, I’ve been there before and I’ve been wrong just as you are now. One of the best lesions working in Ukraine has taught me is to vet those you support rigorously. It’s a lesson you all should take to heart. Both in who you attack and who you defend.
Imagine for a second, just for a brief second, that what happened in the German elections had happened in Ukraine, with people voting for the openly far right. You would stomp us into the dirt, your press would destroy us, your societies would refuse to support our resistance, and they would say we deserve to be invaded.
Your societies, in fact, already do all that to us. The only thing saving us from that becoming the majority view is that we have never had a far-right party in our parliament.
But Germany? For Germany, it's fine. It's also fine for the rest of the West to have the far right, sit at home in complete safety, and argue online that Ukraine needs to be "denazified."
The West has a far-right problem. A big fucking one.
Those really were the days. Just an open world with basically no gameplay, so because lots of interiors were accesible, we made our own games and stories. Some even became immortalised as long-running inside jokes.
....Never ask us who 'grandma' is
Free roam Multiplayer was how I met @JellePlukker, that shit was amazing.
You could play with Trainers and shit because of no anti-cheat back then, so I usually just made my own free roam servers and played with my friends on them, it was fun asf
A word of advice to those of you who value their sanity. DO NOT make a table in Word that is larger than a single page. It will hold your entire document hostage and ruin your life
Friends, do you know anyone who will be traveling from the Netherlands to Ukraine tomorrow (Saturday) or Sunday (private car, volunteer convoy, anything)? I have a very good friend of Andries @Justadutchguy who lives in Assen and is willing to travel all the way from Assen to Kyiv to be here for his farewell. This friend was a big part of his everyday life🙏🏻
😭😭😭 I still don’t want to believe it. There is no other person in this world like Andries. Such a beautiful mind, such a kind, noble, funny, unique person🙏🏻💔 With so many things still to be accomplished. With so many bright days still to be lived.
I knew life was very cruel and unfair, and that death takes away the best people. But I was not ready for the day when our angel Andries would be taken from us…
My sincere condolences to everyone who knew Andries or had an honour to meet him in person. It’s an enormous, irreparable loss for all of us, Ukraine and the World 😔
I only got to meet @Justadutchguy a few times, but that showed me he hard a heart of pure gold. He was a powerhouse - possibly the best of Dutch NAFO.
I'm going to crawl into a corner and cry now.
Heroyam Slava, my friend. You will be missed by us all.
My world has shattered. The man I loved, my beautiful, kind @Justadutchguy died suddenly in front of me as we travelled to Ukraine. There was no warning, no pain, just a second that changed everything.
He was light. He was goodness. He was the sort of man who showed up, who helped, who drove across borders to support others, who made people feel seen and valued.
If you knew him, you know how rare he was. Please keep him and his family close in your hearts.
Czwarty szok:
Weterani.
Siedzą, piją piwo, rozmawiają.
Dwa stoliki dalej podobna sytuacja.
No i usłyszałem, że to oni postawią piwo mnie.
Przysiadłem się bliżej i pytam: dlaczego? Przecież to ja jestem wdzięczny im.
Bo żona jednego z nich i narzeczona drugiego mogły znaleźć schronienie w Polsce.
