Shipping Dietrich and Esmeralda for me comes with the fact that Dietrich’s character development is finding beauty in other things beyond fighting. So living an eventual simple life with Esmeralda, especially after he saved her, is an honestly sweet thing IMO.

Fire Emblem has had 17 soon 18 games with various weapons and instead of Axes, Lances, Magic, Dancers we get 8 fucking swordies. Replace some of them with different units and 6 total characters different weapons.
