Etobicoke Centre has transit gaps being used to justify slowing parking reform/restrict housing. Holyday has been on Council for 10+ yr & sat on the TTC Board, residents deserve a councillor to IMPROVE service, not just cite its limits. #Etobicoke#TOpoli

From the report:
"The report also found between 2022 and 2023, child poverty rates increased in 18 of Toronto’s 25 wards, especially in Etobicoke Centre by 1.3 percentage points from 18.6 per cent to 19.9 percent"
#Etobicoke Centre stats like these cannot be ignored!

Looking more closely there are many local neighbourhoods with much higher rates into the high 30's, our hardest hit community is 50%. I want to talk more about solutions with community members because this trend needs to be reversed!
Parents need to speak up and not back down.
Both #TDSB & #TCDSB have “Supervisors” who have to date, successfully shielded themselves from parent input.
NOW is the time to insist your voices are heard at both school boards.
It’s essential for your kids’ success.
One of the most important takeaways was that parents need to advocate for students because if we do not speak out the government assumes residents of the province are okay with the cuts, and we most certainly are not! Thanks to the ECPLA for holding the event #OLP
Was very happy to moderate an online discussion last night on the state of public ed in this province & its local connections to #Etobicoke Centre. Thanks to @MacLeanWard2 and @Markus4Ward2 for a very in-depth look at the cuts affecting our most vulnerable, our children!

Tonight residents in southwest ward 2 have a chance to tell the city why road safety is such a huge concern in the Markland Wood community! Congrats to concerned residents who nominated the neighbourhood to become part of this great program! #Etobicoke
Tenants in Etobicoke Centre deserve better, they need a Councillor who recognizes that many people in this city, including in Ward 2, need help at a time where record high summer temps are becoming a more regular weather event , we cannot forget that heat kills #Etobicoke#Ward2
Councillor Matlow's motion calling for staff to prepare a max temperature bylaw for rental units in time for the June Executive Committee meeting FAILS 8-16.
Councillor Stephen Holyday wants a recorded vote so he can oppose a downtown development near St. James Park. The project "casts shadows on St. James Cathedral," he laments. Nevertheless, it CARRIES 22-3. https://t.co/po4dG7LXBP
I really like the idea behind this but the timing is not great. With the amount of time it takes for things to get done for a project like this, families will already be in vacation mode; the city should be doing things like this all year round. Road safety is an all year issue!
A new addition to the agenda: Chernos Lin wants an education campaign about road safety, targeting illegal e-scooters, "the use of phones while crossing the street" and "wearing noise cancelling earbuds while walking or cycling in public spaces." https://t.co/Hz2dEEd5zg
For an easy and fun way to follow this thread, I've again fired up the City Hall Watcher Live machine -- posts will automatically appear here. https://t.co/lZLWuz5Q2f
Toronto Council meets today! The agenda includes free AC units, Church Street pedestrianization plans, the island airport, and more.
It will get started shortly. I will post various things that happen.
Meeting stream is here: https://t.co/9Ww6VPMCM9
@thismomroars Keep in mind that this project borders the area from The West Mall to the Etobicoke Creek and from Burnhamthorpe to Dundas; to find out more go to https://t.co/qmTHQBf5b6
Something positive is on the horizon in #Etobicoke road safety! Excited to see this take shape, 2 years ago the community at large came together to nominate our local neighbourhood! I did not see this happening when I started a school council traffic group that grew to fix more!
