I’m an older unpaid carer with my own health needs, living in a home that’s no longer safe for me. I can’t move because the system won’t support my 44 yr son re Independent Living own tenancy This is the hidden crisis no one talks about. #CarersWeek2026
Comedy palate cleanser. Robert Jenrick about to grandstand but reminded of his defection from one party to another this year is gold. The timing. First line great. Second line superb but crowd not recovered from the first to fully appreciate it 😊
At an aquarium in South Korea, after closing time, some clever little otter pups help their grandpa tidy up their toys. As a reward, he gives them ice cubes
Signed up to the https://t.co/mPW7RWrAPM website that is apparently the new way to access health & social care in Scotland. To say I am underwhelmed doesn't begin to cover it. Why can @NHSEngland have a useful app that tells you relevant details but we can't here? @ScotGovFM
@Brandon_Beaber Do you think MRI negative relapses are indeed relapses? My brother had one a couple of years ago which caused noticeable tremors but did not show up on MRI. All my relapses have. We're a strange MS family!
@campbellclaret He can apologise all he wants - the damage is done and it’s not the first time he has shown deep disrespect for the forces. And I can never forgive him for the cruelty he showed towards a disabled journalist. He’s disgusting.
To put these Motability cuts into perspective...
It will save around £300 million.
Latest figures show the DWP has spent over £400 million fighting people on PIP appeals.
Scrap policies that punish Disabled people & stop pretending it's about economic efficiency! #Budget
Fueling resentment towards disabled people with rhetoric about Motability, whilst being utterly and completely wrong in what you are saying, just about sums up this pathetic excuse for a Labour government. You lot are finished. Had your chance - muffed it!

Woke up to this Motability story about “premium cars” being removed from the scheme… and once again it feels like the disabled community is being painted as freeloaders cruising around in BMWs and Mercedes.
The truth?
Most disabled people don’t have a Motability car. I’m one of them — never have, never needed to. And for those who do, the vast majority are driving standard, practical vehicles that meet their needs. Not luxury models.
What really worries me is the impact this kind of headline has on public attitudes. It fuels the idea that disabled people are somehow “taking advantage”, instead of facing daily barriers, extra costs and challenges that most people never see.
And while we’re talking about vehicles… maybe the conversation should be less about what disabled people “shouldn’t” have, and more about why Motability cars are needed at all.
If public transport, rail, trams, taxis and everyday travel were actually accessible across the UK, many of us wouldn’t be forced into using a car as our only option for independence.
Let’s also remember where Motability started.
In the 70s and 80s, disabled people were handed cars like the one in the second photo — tiny, unsafe and completely impractical. Is that really the kind of era we want to drift back towards with the way we talk about disability?
By all means review the scheme if needed — but do it honestly, fairly, and without fuelling resentment towards a community already dealing with enough judgement.
A bit of balance goes a long way.
“The Motability scheme was set up to protect the most vulnerable. Not to subsidise the lease on a Mercedes Benz,” Reeves says.
Misleading and nasty in equal measure.
The story most of the media refuse to believe is serious (or perhaps they just can’t bear to bring an end to “the rise and rise of Reform” which has been their post election favourite fodder). That Nathan Gill is still barely known by the public is a total failure of our media and politics
@homebargains I’ve both emailed and filled out your online form but had no response. Evri returned one of my boxes (which contained most of my large order) as “split in transit” yet your couriers tracking shows it as delivered. Could someone please help resolve this?
