When you’re learning about consonant +le syllables, of course you want to do some nonfiction reading about turtles. We learned the biggest turtle can weigh around 2,000 pounds! And check out these awesome guided drawings. 🐢
What a treat to find an envelope in my school mailbox today from @YoungWritersUSA. Inside it were letters announcing that ⭐️9⭐️ of my fourth grade writers had their poems chosen for the Wonderverse anthology. Congratulations to these students! Big Cross is so proud of you. 📝
Come see me and @Mrscapozucca tomorrow at the 7th annual Battle for the Bridge basketball game to benefit @shmdnow. We have 14 amazing baskets like this one to raffle, plus 50/50, concessions, and cheerleaders from both schools. Will this be the year @GlensFallsCSD gets the win?
These awesome kids have worked hard to master vowel teams like “ai” in “brain,” “oe” in “toe,” and “ie” in pie. To celebrate their efforts, we read a funny book called “Crows Share a Pie” and then we ate some 🥧. I’d say the chocolate pie was a hit!
@koniz_nc@DonnieWahlberg Seriously Shan?!! 🤯 Belated happy birthday wishes from @DonnieWahlberg Sixteen year old us would be losing our damn minds. (Who am I kidding, 50 year me is still blown away by it.)
The Big Cross Thanksgiving breakfast is one of my favorite traditions each year. A shared meal in our cozy pajamas is such a fun way to kick off the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🦃🍽️
Another amazing SRP Day luncheon at Big Cross Elementary today! 🏴☠️🍽️
Mrs. St. Clair and Mrs. Carpenter went “overboard” with pirate-themed treats and decorations to show our support staff how much they are appreciated. #SRPday@nysut
One of my favorite yearly projects - “thank you” cards and letters to our local veterans from the kindergarten - fourth graders at Big Cross. @BCMorcone#VeteransLivesMatter#veteransday2025
My fourth grade friends practiced the “Stop and Jot” note taking strategy for nonfiction as they read about bats. 🦇 They’ll turn their notes into a summary paragraph to share their learning.
October is here and we had a little pumpKin fun to practice spelling words with c or k. We learned the rhyme “K gets i and e and C takes the other 3 (vowels).” 🎃 Happy fall, everyone!
We’re having a blast at Big Cross Summer Success program. Every student gets small group instruction in reading to practice key skills and help them prepare for the next grade level.
My first grade friends enjoyed playing “Heads Up” with consonant digraphs this week. 🙆♀️
The final days of school are always emotional for me as a teacher but this year even more so because it was the end of an era for my own children. My youngest son graduated tonight from South Glens Falls High School. I am so thankful for the teachers who touched his life. 💙❤️
