Fabulous day yesterday at #rncmgraduation. One of my favourite places, with some of my favourite people. I have a lot to thank you for, RNCM! Extra-special thanks to the wonderful @johnhabron for four years of wisdom and support, from pre-application to graduation.
Just seen another comment on low recruitment figures for music teacher trainees. Confess I'm surprised the gov had any targets for music. Not surprised we fall short; yearly decline in uptake at GCSE & A level, fewer music undergrads, and bingo: no teachers. Who could foresee it?
NEW JOB ALERT! Could you join our team of musicians in residence, working 2 days a week at @lodgeparkacad in Corby? It’s a really great job for a professional musician - details below.

We are sad to share with you the news that Oxford Brookes University has decided to close its music department. Below a statement from the music team - we are all devastated.
@DrFautley Bodes ill, I think. (I've always been a bit disappointed that all headteachers didn't just club together and refuse to buy into the EBacc until it was fit for purpose and fit for all pupils.)
I spent all afternoon on the scheduling of the PG Research in Music Education Symposium here @TrinityLaban. Such exciting research going on in #MusicEducation#MusEd#RMES2023 Do join us online for free on 27 Oct https://t.co/1KdOHkcBlY
We have a fully-funded PhD studentship in #musiceducation@myBCUresearch - "A Whole New Type of School - An International Orchestra Establishes a Secondary School in the West Midlands". Advert is here: https://t.co/IhLHrJbwVs Looking forward to lots of applications!
The number of young people going on Rodofus @ChoralCourses is the highest since 2019. They’re amazing, often life-changing. It’s not too late to sign up for the York course - we’ve 8 places remaining and we’d love to fill them. Bursaries available! https://t.co/bJMj7LNQb7
