One more time for the people in the back... More guns don't make ANYONE safer. We must pursue avenues towards making gun ownership truly safer through common sense gun policy or we might be the ones to lose our lives next :/

Congratulations to everyone that received a promotion or tenure this year! 🎉Thank you all for being committed to the Department's goals of quality care, comprehensive education, and cutting-edge research 👏👏

Over the last two decades, more school-age children have died from guns than on-duty police officers and active duty military combined.
Think about that.
Congress, the time to pass stronger gun safety reforms is now.
THEY DID IT!!! Today @govtimwalz signed sweeping gun reform legislation into law. This historic win was made possible by the tireless advocacy of @MomsDemand volunteers, four of whom were elected to the Minnesota Senate last year, flipping the legislature to a gun sense trifecta.
@meganranney speaking to @APSASurgeons on the public health crisis of firearm-related deaths & injuries. Fantastic lecture on taking a public health approach to this reality. Cars & sex didn’t go away to reduce automobile or HIV deaths but safety was improved!
What evidence exists??
Concealed carry laws and stand your ground laws INCREASE incidence of firearm injuries.
Background checks, domestic violence prohibitions, child access preventions laws & more can DECREASE firearm injuries.

Megan Paul presenting now in the main hall on firearm injury. Her SECOND plenary session presentation. Of note, she is a 3rd year medical student. Congratulations on such an amazing accomplishment & well presented talks 🎉✨

Excellent talk from @meganranney on what we can do to address the number one killer of the pediatric patient in the US: Gun violence. Idk about you but I’m fired up to take action! 🔥#APSA23
More from @JenLStevens7 - States with the strongest gun laws have ~50% lower pediatric firearm fatality rates than states with the weakest gun laws. We're all Americans.
IT'S THE GUNS.
