New four-year program includes simulation-based learning in addition to clinical experiences.
@E_King_MD Agreed! And I argue that tobacco use and other substance use is more medical history than social history. It being in social history perpetuates stigma and goes against that use qualifying as use disorders are medical diagnoses with treatments.
@DxRxEdu @rabihmgeha Agree 100%. Why my path looks like it does! Not only can the best clinicians skillfully reason, but they can also expertly communicate with patients, families, and colleagues, especially in the face of diagnostic uncertainty and poor prognoses.
Integrating palliative care across all of med school shows incredible commitment towards patients with serious illnesses!
So proud that @PennMedicine is making this investment in future physicians. Kudos especially to our own Dr. Alana Sagin, CARE-7 curriculum director.
@UCSFGeriatrics’s Dr. Carla Perissinotto’s tome MUST become required reading, if not a required competency for all medical students, residents and fellows! Beware of death certificate data! #Geriatrics https://t.co/HZYRcPCQcM

Loved this SGIM recap episode ft. my dear friend @EraKryzhMD who was 🔥! Also listed to it on my work commute which per the episode means I retained the same amount as if I listened without multitasking ☺️
Had a blast hanging w @thecurbsiders crew for the first time IRL & plugging the best med-ed sessions: workshops, updates, clinician-educator career panel, and effective clinic teaching w @SocietyGIM SGIM Teach faculty!
@leyde_sarah Exciting! Don't hesitate asking other attendings questions about a difficult case, logistics, etc. I wish I had realized this the first time I attended - would have saved time & stress! Don't forget how much value you bring including with the addiction med expertise.
@SEPTA - just rode the regional rail with a man using his shirt as a mask. Staff may not feel empowered to do something & did not have extra masks. Can we guarantee extra masks on every train? Too high risk for @SEPTA staff & passengers.
5/ Inquiry, however, is a very valuable tool to promote learning in the clinical setting when used thoughtfully.
These are the 8 general rules I follow when asking questions. Check out the whole thread for details.
@PennIMResidents @drnandiwada @ABirdMD @E_King_MD @subhaairan @jjaeger3 @joshuy@daveaizenberg Remember that your attending is your coach. Be open with them about how you’re doing overall, what your capacity is for additional teaching, and what you want coaching on specifically. We’re here for you!
@PennIMResidents @drnandiwada @ABirdMD @E_King_MD @subhaairan @jjaeger3 @joshuy@daveaizenberg Reflect on intern yr & jot notes ab what you loved that your senior res. did that you want to do & what you didn’t love that u want to avoid. I re-read mine before each rotation as a JAR. Signpost on the fly teaching: “This is a teaching point!” so all listen up & to get credit!
