One of my favorite things to paint is local architecture, especially the places people recognize instantly.

Restaurants, storefronts, neighborhood landmarks…

I think a lot about what kind of art will last. There’s something about slowing down for detail work that changes how a piece feels. And yes, I notice things no one else will notice 😅 It stops being something you look at & becomes something you keep. That’s always the goal 💛

This Queen Anne beauty in Montclair, NJ was the longtime home of Connolly & Co. Insurance. Every time I thought I was done, I found another architectural detail, shrub, porch post, or window to obsess over.

Definitely one of the more ambitious commissions I’ve tackled recently.
