A Pakistani immigrant and his second wife have been found guilty by a London jury today for the brutal torture and beating murder of their 10-year-old daughter.

Sara Sharif suffered years of violent torment in the family's taxpayer-funded home in Surrey by the hands of Urfan Sharif and Beinash Batool. A post-mortem following her death last year found she was burned with an iron, had bite marks all over, had a traumatic head injury and at least 25 broken bones. Police found her body in a bedroom under a sheet.

Before her father and stepmother withdrew her from school, she was made to wear Islamic clothing to hide all the bruises. Sara was not in contact with her biological mother, a Polish woman.

The Surrey County Council's children's services, Surrey Police, the courts and her primary school were all aware of abuse concerns about her family, but none saved her. In 2019, Guildford family court transferred custody from her biological mother to her father and his new wife.

Bovaer, a cow feed additive designed to reduce methane emissions, is facing public pushback despite industry assurances the additive is “safe and effective” and also key to reducing greenhouse emissions from dairy cows.

The feed additive works by suppressing the enzyme in a cow’s rumen that forms methane.

“The vast majority of these so-called miracle products being introduced are for CAFO animal production. The issue isn’t the number of ruminant animals, but rather the manner in which the animals are raised. The CAFO production environment of beef and dairy animals is unnatural for these species of livestock.
