I thought that next year's London Marathon would be popular but the figures released this morning are pretty astonishing:
- A world record 1,338,544 people have applied for the 2027 London Marathon
- Over one million from the UK and 300,000 international applications
- Almost two percent of the entire UK adult population entered the ballot
- More than double the applications for the 2024 London Marathon (578,304)
- Almost 100k people from the US (92k) applied
- Highest number of UK applicants were women aged 20-29 (179k)
