Briefly pausing my X retirement: I'm glad to see skepticism re: Haidt's ecent book about smartphones inducing anxiety (i.e. https://t.co/n06glnzpiv... & https://t.co/Xc5lR4SuI1...). Tech isn't that deterministic and it's destructive to keep making that argument!

I write all of this with the caveat that I can see how overstimulation via screens is highly problematic for young children and developing minds. But judging and curtailing teen communication and mental health is so much more complex than blaming devices.
