There will be moments when you find yourself standing before a Red Sea with an enemy behind you, and every natural option seems exhausted. In those moments, remember that God is not intimidated by what intimidates you. What looks like an impossible barrier to you is an opportunity for God to reveal His power.

Whatever you do, don’t distance yourself from Christ just because you’re struggling. Run to Him when you sin, not away from Him. Run to Him when your faith feels weak, when you’re overwhelmed, confused, or carrying shame. Jesus isn’t waiting for you to get everything together before He welcomes you back. His grace is for the moments when you feel farthest away. The enemy wants you to believe your mistakes disqualify you, but God’s mercy says, “Come closer.” The Bible reminds us, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). It doesn’t say to come after you’ve fixed yourself it says to come boldly, because His mercy is available right now. No matter what you’re facing today, don’t let guilt keep you from the One who can heal your heart. The quickest path back to peace has always been Jesus.

Don't insult God with small expectations. The size of your challenges should never determine the size of your prayers. Every breakthrough in Scripture began with someone believing that God could do what seemed impossible. The Red Sea did not part until Moses stretched out his rod. The prison doors did not open until the church prayed. The giant did not fall until David stepped forward in faith. Pray prayers that require God's intervention. Ask for healing where doctors have given up, restoration where relationships seem broken, provision where resources are lacking, and peace where anxiety has ruled. Heaven responds to faith-filled expectations.

“In the day of my trouble I will call on You, for You will answer me.” Sometimes life gets heavy. We don’t always have the answers, the strength, or a clear path ahead. But God is always listening. When you’re overwhelmed, pray. When you’re worried, pray. When you’re waiting on a breakthrough, pray. He may not answer in the way or time we expect, but He has never stopped being faithful. If you’re in a difficult season, don’t give up. Keep trusting Him even when you can’t see what He’s doing. Keep believing even when doubt creeps in. The same God who carried you through past struggles is still working today. Take a deep breath, give it to Him, and remember: you’re not alone. He’s got you.

My sister, Elena, only stepped into the animal rescue because the sky had suddenly opened up. She had just finished running some weekend errands when she was caught completely unprepared by a torrential downpour. Ducking inside to wait out the storm, she had absolutely no intention of adopting a pet - and she definitely wasn’t looking for a kitten.

​But near the back of the quiet adoption room sat a tiny, amber-furred kitten named Milo. While his littermates scrambled and tumbled over toys, Milo sat perfectly still on a fleece blanket, his wide eyes tracking every visitor. Every time someone paused near his glass enclosure, his ears perked up with hope. Every time they walked away, he shrank back down, a little deflated.

​A volunteer noticed Elena lingering and walked over. "That's Milo," she said softly. "He's an absolute sweetheart, but people tend to overlook him because he doesn't push himself to the front."

​Elena crouched down to eye level. The moment she did, Milo stood up, padded over to the partition, and stretched a single, tiny paw through the wire gap to press it against her fingers. That tiny touch changed everything for my sister.

​The volunteer brought Milo into a private meet-and-greet room. The second Elena sat on the floor, the little orange ball scrambled into her lap, turned a tight circle, and immediately fell asleep.

​She stayed there for nearly an hour, listening to his rhythmic purring and trying to convince herself she was just waiting for the rain to clear. But deep down, the battle was already lost. When she finally stood up to leave, Milo woke up, followed her to the door, and sat by her shoes, looking up as if to say, "Where are we going?"

​Three hours later, Milo was safely tucked into a carrier on Elena's passenger seat, watching the windshield wipers swipe away the rain.

​During his first week home, Milo became Elena's tiny shadow. He followed her from the kitchen to the bedroom, and even waited outside the bathroom door. If she moved out of his line of sight for even a moment, his little paws would come pattering around the corner, seeking reassurance that she hadn't vanished.

​Two years have flown by since that stormy afternoon. Milo is much bigger now, noticeably fluffier, and entirely convinced that he owns every square inch of Elena's apartment. Yet, without fail, every evening when my sister sits down on the couch, the ritual repeats. Milo climbs into her lap, spins around exactly three times, and drifts off to sleep - the exact same way he did the day they met.

​People often tell Elena how wonderful it was of her to rescue him. She always smiles, but she's confided in me that she secretly looks back at that rainy day and wonders if Milo was the one doing the rescuing. Because sometimes, you step inside to escape a passing storm… and walk out with a best friend for life.

Drunk man breaks into dog shelter after losing his own dog to cancer.

Staff thought it was a robbery when cameras caught him walking through the kennel aisle after midnight. The dogs were wide awake, watching him from behind the gates, and no one knew what he was doing there.

Then another camera showed him curled up on the floor, surrounded by dogs.

Police say he had been drinking that night after his dog died the week before. Nothing was stolen. No animals were hurt. He was arrested for breaking in, but shelter workers said the footage was hard to watch.

He didn’t come for money. He came because he missed his dog.

One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” That sounds beautiful until life stops making sense. It’s easy to trust God when everything is going well, but harder when doors close, plans change, prayers seem delayed, or life takes an unexpected turn. That’s exactly when this scripture matters most. It doesn’t say trust God when you understand everything. It says trust Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. There will be seasons where you don’t have all the answers and moments where God’s plan looks different than the one you had in mind. God has never asked us to understand everything, He’s asked us to trust Him. Every time I look back over my life, I see moments where God was guiding me even when I couldn’t see it. So if you’re facing uncertainty today, remember: God is already ahead of you, in the situation you’re worried about, and still making a way, even if you can’t see it yet.

Heavenly Father, with You this Friday morning is not just the start of another day. It’s a new opportunity and another chance for a new beginning. We know that when we come to You in prayer, You enter the circumstances with power. Today, I pray for those needing closure in an area of their life so they can move on. Many hold great animosity in their hearts toward others because of negative memories and need closure to move forward. Help them realize that these memories build perseverance and character, not to dwell on. Help them forgive those who wronged them, find closure today, and embrace the new beginning they seek, as the Holy Spirit leads. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
