Protobox has further increased the collaboration between designers on @Atlassian prototypes (to say nothing of speed / simplicity).
The specific UI + integration into our workflows and tech stacks like Bitbucket, agentic harnesses and our remote development environment allows for amazing remixing possibilities almost without thought.
More to come at Team 26 EU - see you in Amsterdam!
🧰 Building Protobox: our AI prototyping tool
Eighteen months ago, the Atlassian Design team started the transition of building with AI-powered prototypes. Over time, we realised we could better integrate different workflows and technology stacks - so we built Protobox. It started as an app-specific kit, grew into a Bitbucket repo, and has now evolved into a full-blown Mac app. Protobox is a super flexible canvas for building on coded prototypes.
The goal wasn't to replace existing design tools in our toolchain. It was to leverage code where it helps most -> bringing technical feasibility into the room early and using agent skills like "Pre-flight" and "Spec-gen" to cut down on back-and-forth. This has helped us align faster on releases across the @Atlassian System of Work - including Confluence Remix, @loom Speaker Notes, @Jira AI SDLC features and plenty more.
@jenco has written an article detailing our approach, including the trade-offs and learnings. Great design requires designing great tools - and the team has absolutely delivered on that.

Checkout #Protobox - an awesome tool we built in #atlassiandesign to prototype anything to get alignment with pm and eng and then create the best product spec you could ever want and ship it!

⚒️ How we built Atlassian Design System CLI
Sharing a great deep dive from Kylor Hall on our new Atlassian Design System CLI. It exemplifies how we build and stress test with the same considerations that our customers have for their own AI stacks. Token efficiency, MCP vs. CLI decision paths, evaluation loops - all of these are done with a ton of rigour. This takes deep collaboration between engineers, designers and agents over many months.

Bonus - in the spirit of building in public - anyone can use our ADS MCP and ADS CLI. Collectively, they provide 90% plus coverage of what is on https://t.co/juQycgSDyE
Sharing this work from Maxwell Hathaway on the next generation Rovo Omnibar. It showcases the level of care that goes into our motion design work for the @Atlassian Design System.
Those annotations and exploded views help him and the whole team inspect coded interactions from every angle. This is helpful because the Rovo Omnibar is one of those components that is a lot more complex than it looks at first glance.
It's also a great example of using multiple tools and working with multiple designers (props to Deborah Lindberg and Dan Hoolahan as well). Plenty of care for detail and no one-shots.
@AtThisHr@TheMaineWonk he didn’t do a very good job of stopping it during his last term. Russia invaded and stole Ukrainian sovereign territory way back in 2014. Why do you think he’ll be able to do it now? so far he’s achieved absolutely nothing except piss off Europe and make USA look like clowns. 🤡
BREAKING: China has decided to import a record amount of Canadian crude, while they cut purchases of US oil by ~ 90% thanks to Trump's Trade war.
In other word, our former allies are teaming with our adversaries to bypass American oil.
THANKS TRUMP.
Designing the experience of a reasoning model was the last half mile of a very long journey to get here.
Congratulations to everyone who worked on getting o1-preview and o1-mini out. I feel very luck to have been a part of it!
@anastasiaz007@ZelenskyyUa The Ukrainian people have been fighting and dying at the front line of democracy. Protecting the US and the whole of the west from Putin’s communist regime. We owe ukraine an apology for taking thier sacrifice for granted and must be unequivocally supporting them to defeat Putin.
@Sonos Why oh why do you have this dumb feature in your app that plays like-music every time I specifically want to play an artist and only that artist?!
