What the First Amendment actually does
It stops the government from jailing reporters, shutting down a paper, or passing a law that says “this network may not publish.”
It does not create a right to a White House hard pass, a seat in the briefing room, or a question in the Oval.
The press can print whatever they want from the sidewalk. They still have cameras, websites, and the whole country. That is the freedom. Access to the building is not the freedom.
