Major Jeff Nix, with the Butts County Sheriff's Department, presented Mayor Eddie Ford with a check for $1,500 for the city to enhance safety and security. The mayor and council will discuss how to best use the funds in future meetings.

It was a very special day in Jenkinsburg. We would like to thank everyone for coming out to the dedication this morning. The rain did not stop the celebration today, but we do look forward to the sunny days ahead when this playground will be full of children.

The dedication of the Clair S. Jones Memorial Playground will take place at 10:30 AM tomorrow, but we are cancelling the BAR-B-CHOO-CHEW Festival due to inclement weather.
