It is with a heavy heart that I report the passing of long-time friend and falconer, Craig Golden.
To honor him on the falconry Wall of Remembrance at The Archives of Falconry, we need to raise $1000 by January 15. Donate in Craig Golden’s name: https://t.co/q2Z4ESI2Bq

The mummified crocodiles of Kom Ombo, Upper Egypt, dating back to the Greco-Roman period (332 BC – 395 AD). These sacred reptiles were carefully preserved as offerings to Sobek, the crocodile-headed god.
Unearthed from the sandy embrace of the desert, the mummies reveal intricate details: the texture of their scales, the curve of their powerful jaws, even the remnants of the embalming process. The arid climate has worked both as destroyer and preserver, etching time upon their forms while safeguarding their essence. These remains offer invaluable insights into ancient Egyptian religious practices and the reverence for nature.
Silent witnesses to a bygone era, these crocodiles embody a paradox: creatures of immense power rendered eternally still, their ancient slumber bridging the gap between the mortal and divine. They are a testament to the enduring power of belief, and the eternal dance between life, death, and the desert sands.
