Hospitable Nova Scotians are not going to open their homes to 100s of people staying in parks & shelters. And it shouldn’t fall to the hospitable nature of citizens to do the work of government. Crisis demands leadership, political will, investment, real housing.

The municipality has opened two comfort centres for residents dealing with power outages and flooding.
Beaver Bank Community Centre and East Dartmouth Community Centre will remain open overnight.
Basinview Dr: so the situation here was reported to be a significant flooding condition with multiple people in need of assistance, as this time D3, 8E, 45E, 10A, and 8A are operating on scene here.
HRM is under water, we’re in the 5th hour of an electrical storm & police are asking ppl to avoid travel. Yet 100s of people staying in tents - our neighbours - have nowhere safe to go. Tents are not safe shelter & they are not homes. Housing is a human right.
