When I picked Lucy up, it was clear she had been well cared for. She’d been bathed, fed, and loved on. You even went out of your way to replace her ruined bed with a new one, and she’s already claimed it like it’s always been hers.

You took a heartbreaking situation and did everything you could to make it a little softer for her. That kind of kindness doesn’t go unnoticed.

There’s one moment from the day we picked Lucy up that I’ll never forget. As we were getting ready to leave, it finally hit her that she was going home. She was excited, but also emotional. Before she took that first step toward the door, she turned around and went back to nuzzle the woman who had cared for her these past two months. One last, gentle thank you.

That small gesture said everything about the kind of people who work there.

We received some advice lately suggesting that we should prioritise social media engagement and influencer-style storytelling to increase our funding. We want to be clear about where Todd’s Welfare Society stands.
Our reality is not a curated digital series, it is the raw, unedited front line of a crisis. For the past six months, while cullings have escalated, our team has been working round the clock on the ground: fighting state-sanctioned executions of street dogs, managing critical trauma, and forcing accountability through intense High Court proceedings.
We are a boots on the ground NGO operating without international corporate backing. True rescue is gritty, complex, and often happens where cameras cannot go. We don't invest donor funds into video editors, PR teams, or influencer production; we invest them into saving lives, legal advocacy and now also the permanent foundation of our new hospital.

We welcome support from those who want to invest in lasting, structural change and the hard, unglamorous work of real world rescue. Thank you for standing with us in the grit of this mission 🙏🏼

We see neglect every day and it pains us. Here is Sprocket, the lowest rider we've seen in a long time.

He's approximately six years old and was found by a good Samaritan walking down the street. He had a red leash dragging behind him. She was able to coax him into her car and bring him into ACC. Upon intake it was noted that he was emaciated and had overgrown nails. Medical has noted he has multiple large dermal masses, pododermititis, and suspected food allergies.

How do masses get like that with no medical intervention. Unfortunately pet ownership is now a luxury. It takes money to keep a pet healthy. Good intentions are just that, but it doesn't take care of medical expenses.

Sprocket is a character alright. You can spot that miles away. He's currently at the vet this very minute getting all checked out.
