🇳🇴 One last Row.
Crown Prince HAAKON himself beat the drum while the Norwegian team and thousands of fans rowed together in unison.
Norway left as legends. See you in 2030.
🚨Alf-Inge Haaland on Norway’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup by England:
🗣️ Reporter: “Alf-Inge, what’s your reaction after Norway’s 2–1 extra-time defeat to England?”
🗣️ Alf-Inge Haaland:
“Today, the referee won. That’s how I feel. I don’t usually like talking about officials after a match, but when so many key moments go against one team, it’s impossible to ignore.
We saw Torbjørn Heggem’s goal disallowed, we saw controversial decisions throughout the game, and every big call seemed to go England’s way. At this level, those moments change matches.
I’m incredibly proud of Norway because they never stopped fighting. They played with courage, discipline and belief against one of the strongest teams in the tournament. They didn’t come here to defend for 120 minutes—they came here to compete, and they did exactly that.
England are a very good side, and I congratulate them on qualifying. But I can’t help feeling that football should have been the main story tonight, not the officiating.
The players gave everything for their country. They represented Norway with pride, and no one can question their commitment. When the emotions settle, I hope people remember the performance more than the result.
Sometimes you’re beaten by a better team. Tonight, I leave feeling that the biggest influence on the match wasn’t just the football. That’s the most disappointing part for everyone connected with Norway.”
🚨🗣 Erling Haaland can't stop praising Nyland (Norway goalkeeper):
"For me, he's my man of the match even though I scored the goals, He [Nyland] Prevented so many goals that would have probably send us back home"
"He's the reason why we're going to be playing the Quarter final for the first time in our history, much respect to him"
Lionel Messi on the 100-year-old fan holding the “100 YEAR OLD MESSI FAN” banner:
🗣️ “When I saw her in the stands… I honestly had to hold myself together. In that moment, football disappeared for me. It wasn’t a stadium anymore, it wasn’t noise, it wasn’t pressure it was just emotion.”
“Someone who has lived a whole century of life… through wars, through generations, through everything the world has endured… and she is still here, smiling, holding my name in her hands. I don’t even know how to explain what that feels like.”
“It made me think about everything my first steps in football, the dreams I had as a child, the sacrifices my family made… and somehow, through all those years, my name reached someone like her. It’s overwhelming.”
“I don’t deserve something like that. No player does. Because this goes beyond football. This is love from a lifetime, not just a moment.”
“I looked at her and I just wanted to stop time for a second… to say thank you properly. Not as a footballer, but as a human being who understands how rare it is to be loved like that for so long.”
“There are goals that make noise, trophies that make headlines, but this… this was something completely different. Pure, unconditional connection between two lives that were never meant to meet, but somehow did through football.”
“If I could give her anything, it wouldn’t be a shirt or a photo. It would be time. Because the fact she spent part of her life supporting me… I will carry that forever.”
“When I retire, I will remember nights like this more than anything else. Because at the end of everything, football is not about records… it is about hearts that connect without even speaking.”
“And in that moment, I realized something very simple… I am not just playing for trophies. I am playing for people like her.”
We’ve learnt some bad news that Donny Strathie passed away in Boston on Sunday. He had a ticket for the Morocco game, but never got the chance to realize his World Cup dream.
It would mean a lot to his family if we could organise a minutes applause in the 76th minute of the Morocco game.
