One of my favorite quotes I have heard since becoming a parent: "our kids love to make liars out of us"...not intentionally but we often say "my kid always..." or "my kid never...." and then they do the exact opposite. It is so comical. 😂

But also ensuring the student knows why it is being done this way, and helping him to problem solve what he could do differently the next time. Shows you care about him and his pain, but also that there are safer/better ways to handle it.
