This Friday, I was pleased to receive the newly appointed UN Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator for Ethiopia, H.E. Dr. @ozonnia (ASG), alongside @unwomenethiopia's mgmt team, as part of his ongoing efforts to connect with UN staff & shape a shared vision for impact. @UNEthiopia
I reaffirmed @UN_Women's commitment to closely align with the RC/HC’s vision and to strengthen collective action so that gender equality and women’s empowerment remain central to Ethiopia’s development, humanitarian, and peace agendas.
As I noted in my remarks: “Let us use this retreat to reaffirm our shared commitments, strengthen partnerships, and accelerate progress for women and girls.”
#GenderEquality#Partnerships
Earlier today: I joined partners at the Gender Equality Working Group (GEWG) biennial retreat to reflect, learn, and help shape the path forward for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
We discussed key national developments, including the upcoming elections and women’s participation, and exchanged practical experiences on effective engagement with government alongside colleagues from the Governance and Health Working Groups.
Join us for a critical conversation on advancing gender equality through sustainable financing.
