I’ve developed and validated THREE unique cultural competency tests which took around 10 years to develop. These tools provide a critically unique opportunity in Aust to determine the causal contribution of a lack of cultural competency on service outcomes for the first time. There are 5 domains and 18 subdomains that are tested. We test whole organisations and then provide not only whole of organisational “benchmarks” against our national norms but we can also then target skills deficits and statistically determine whether improvements in these areas lead to improved outcomes (eg. Improve the cultural competency of police and determine whether that reduces incarceration rates; improve the cultural competencies of child protection workers against child removal rates etc)

This is the only work in Aust that is measured & objective. Whilst it should be a standard because it’s so hard nosed; resistance behaviours are the most challenging aspect of this work. People and organisations simply do not like to face a reality that they have views; attitudes, beliefs and skills deficits that are inherently racist.
However; I have had so many brave organisations and individuals undertake these & they have always ended up much better organisations as a result.
