I’m a music loving, beat making, computer building, dj mixing trash gamer. Call of Duty & Animal Crossing. Police Emergency Communications Supervisor by day.
Tonight’s story will recap my ride-along with DPS, following operations and traffic stops made as part of the Austin Violent Crimes Task Force. @KXAN_News
This has been our first opportunity to speak on camera, one-one, with the agency about its role in the city.
@Wes65570474 @Austin_Police@ATCEMS@austinfiredept Let’s add a 12 hour ride out at Emergency Communications with a 911 call taker - shoot even a two hour ride out but during the late evening/night shift between 8p-2a / you pick the time and day.
We need more done in this years COA budget to address our staffing needs. Our 911 operators are feeling the stress of knowing there are calls that we can not get to while dealing with the trauma of the calls they do take. We don’t want any calls to hold. #saveaustin911
The 911 staffing crisis was identified in 2022.
What has this council done to address the staffing crisis?
It has only worsened.
Do u feel like they are treating it as the high-priority it truly deserves?

Police Emergency Communications Supervisor Jenny Knight has been with APD for the last eight and a half years. She describes her experience working at the APD Emergency Communications Center and how she and her team continue to build a safe environment for everyone.
In response to community concerns regarding the collaboration between @Austin_Police & @TxDPS , I hand delivered the following memo with questions to our Interim City Manager today in advance of the #atxcouncil briefing on April 18, 2023.
@Austin_Police Emergency Communications was present and taking notes @TXConfWomen We all were able to take something from each of the speakers that we will be able to utilize in some way for ourselves, staff, and for the larger picture of rebuilding a team over time. #austin911
It’s sickening watching this. This is from 8 years ago! This is what happens when you leave your 911 call center behind as an “unmet need” Wake up folks. #apd#austin911#austincitycouncil#saveaustin911

City Council is talking right now about 911 Communications Retention & Recruitment. They have definitely listened to us and those that have reached out to them about the issues in the questions they are asking the chief. #austin911#austinpolice#ATX
