In 1981, Japan delayed the DTaP vaccine until children turned two years old.

Japan holds one of the lowest infant mortality rates, while the US ranks among the highest.

During the 1970s, following only two reported infant deaths linked to the whole-cell pertussis vaccine (DTwP), intense public concern prompted the Japanese government to halt routine DTwP vaccinations.

They later introduced the acellular pertussis version (DTaP) in 1981, but limited its use to children aged two and older.

In 1993, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor & Welfare discontinued the combined MMR vaccine after it triggered a significant increase in severe adverse reactions — particularly aseptic meningitis resulting in serious harm and fatalities.

Japan now provides separate measles and rubella vaccines and has never reintroduced the mumps component or the MMR combination shot.

In 1994, Japan revised its Immunization Act, changing all childhood vaccinations from mandatory to voluntary/recommended status.

This removed any penalties for declining vaccines and moved administration from mass public health clinics to individual choice via private doctors — prioritizing personal decision-making and informed consent.

The U.S. continues to have the highest infant mortality rate among 16 other developed nations.

As of 2022, the CDC reports the U.S. rate at 5.6 deaths per 1,000 live births. Japan’s rate remains among the world’s lowest at 1.7 per 1,000 — the U.S. rate is more than three times higher.

Left behind in Kabul. Alone. He waited 47 days.

K-9 Chaos was not a dog who did his job. He was a dog who had DECIDED, completely, permanently, without reservation, that Lieutenant Marcus Webb was coming back for him. No matter how long it took.

At Hamid Karzai International Airport, Kabul, on the morning of August 30th, 2021, a three-year-old Belgian Malinois sat in an empty aircraft hangar. The last American plane had left six hours ago. The evacuation was over.

Chaos had been left behind.

Not intentionally. The chaos of the withdrawal. The panic. The rush. Webb had been separated from Chaos during the final evacuation. Put on a different plane. Told Chaos would be on the next flight.

There was no next flight.

Chaos survived the first day alone. Waiting at the hangar where Webb had left him.

Chaos survived the first week. Scavenging food from abandoned military supplies.

Chaos survived 47 days in Taliban-controlled Kabul. Alone. Hiding. Waiting.

Because Chaos survived on the belief that Webb wouldn't leave him forever.

Back in the United States, Webb was losing his mind. Filed reports. Called congressmen. Contacted rescue organizations. Went on the news.

"I left my dog in Afghanistan," he said on CNN, his voice breaking. "I left my brother. And I'm going to get him back."

The military said it was impossible. Kabul had fallen. Taliban controlled the airport. No way to extract a dog.

Webb didn't care about impossible.

He contacted Pineapple Express, a veteran-run extraction operation. Gave them Chaos's last known location. Sent photos. Videos. Anything that could help.

For 47 days, Webb didn't sleep. Didn't eat properly. Just waited for news.

Chaos stepped out slowly. Walked to Webb. Collapsed into his arms.

But what people didn't see was what happened after.

For six months, Chaos wouldn't sleep unless Webb was in the room. Wouldn't eat unless Webb fed him. Wouldn't go outside unless Webb went first.

"He's terrified I'll leave him again," Webb said in an interview. "And I don't blame him. I left him once. In the worst place. At the worst time. He waited 47 days for me. And I'll spend the rest of my life making sure he knows I'm never leaving again."

Three years later, Chaos still sleeps with his head on Webb's chest. Still follows him everywhere.

Something happened in a Massachusetts federal courtroom that I can't stop thinking about, even now, even knowing what ICAN was able to do after, even knowing the charter got amended and we moved the ball. I can't just let it go.

Think about this: The American Academy of Pediatrics sued Robert Kennedy Jr. and HHS. And what they were suing over, the thing they argued constituted harm, was the possibility that doctors might get to have a conversation with their patients about vaccines. That's what they wanted stopped. Shared decision-making.

The radical idea that a pediatrician and a parent might sit down together and talk about what's right for that specific child. Now, the AAP takes money from pharmaceutical companies. That's documented. So when they go to federal court to protect the full 54-vaccine mandate, you have to ask who they're really representing in that room. It is not the pediatricians. It is not the children.

The judge agreed with them. And then he went further, declaring that Kennedy's advisory committee was flawed, specifically because it didn't have enough members with financial ties to the vaccine industry.

He said, in effect, that the people who profit from the schedule have a right to vote on the schedule. An activist judge handed pharma a structural guarantee, a legal argument that you cannot reform the advisory process without their seat at the table.

We got the charter amended, and that matters. But what was said out loud in that courtroom, I don't think we should forget what that judge was willing to put his name on.

It is incredibly ironic that @realDonaldTrump would write that his pick to lead the CDC will “restore the GOLD STANDARD SCIENCE at the CDC, which was an absolute disaster focused on ‘mandates’ under Sleepy Joe,” when his pick is the QUEEN of mandating vaccines. She has, with threat and force, mandated almost every major vaccine on civilians and military members, including mandating injection of smallpox, anthrax, and flu vaccines into U.S. Forces, and disciplining those who refused.

The only thing she is likely to restore is the CDC to business as usual – cheerleading for industry instead of being a regulator over industry.
