Today is Trans Day of Visibility. To our dearest trans friends, we hope you remember that you deserve all the joy, love, affirmation, and celebration. Not just today, but everyday.
@JudgeFergusonTX Spend time with people from a variety of backgrounds (outside law) to (1) combat the sense that conditions of law practice are “normal” or the only way to live and (2) better serve a range of clients. Start therapy early to mitigate the psychological damage of law school.
Great thread on lawyer competence frameworks from @jordan_law21. Excited to have been part of the NB development project—including the training and testing emerging in these areas. Always open to feedback or questions on this work!
Volunteer Appreciation Week! Today we highlight those who volunteer on our Discipline, Appeals and Registration Committees. Thank you for all the work you have done to support the Association over the last year. #NVW2021 https://t.co/yHbbabjhvl
@jordan_law21 @IAALS It's an excellent report. It's regrettable, however, that it makes sweeping statements about closed-book, time constraints, and multiple-choice. The legal profession has misused these formats, but used well (and in limited ways) these can be invaluable for defensible testing.
@jordan_law21 I can think of no defensible basis for such a dress code for a bar exam. I am pleased we confronted this issue in Alberta more than a decade ago (in response to this excellent post: https://t.co/zzl6LJumB7 -- thanks @ACWoolleyYYC!)
@professor_smith A new program in New Brunswick, Canada (launch: June 1) has a defensible Legal Knowledge Exam, a Professional Skills Exam, and a Legal Practice Evaluation—all will be deliverable through remote proctoring or other pandemic-friendly means. (Plus an online education program!)

@Breanna_Needham True! I would add that diversity leads to better outcomes *when* the team has members who are interculturally competent. Diversity + intercultural competence = inclusion. Our profession has work to do on both parts of the equation!
