In the village of Inverness in Cape Breton Island of Nova Scotia, my local friend and I visited the beach. Standing by the shore of the glorious Atlantic Ocean, he played an Irish tune with his Bagpipe and I danced Punjabi Bhangra to it. We're sending joy, hope and positivity.
Third graders at @BAcacemy are putting teamwork skills to work while learning about structures in the popsicle stick bridge building challenge! Great conversations being had here today! @CBVRCE_NS
2006: my prof spending way too much time annotating my mistakes in my references on my poorly written papers
2022: me using Google to copy and paste references on APA format
The real question is: do those profs regret the wasted time? b/c I've learned nothing.
The purpose of leadership is to listen, inspire, hold space for others to make meaning, model excellent pedagogy, and build a culture of transformation. There is no hammer in this picture. It's about slowing down, really seeing/hearing people, & moving with humility + integrity.
A1: UDL is all about firm goals and flexible means. Some goals focus on completing work independently while others focus on collaboration. When we are intentional about outcomes we can address potential barriers. Purpose is everything. #UDLchat
Starting a new writing unit is always exciting. @BAcacemy Third graders were buzzing with ideas they shared on a collaborative jamboard. Then they got to work planting seeds and expanding on ideas for their own poetry. @CBVRCE_NS@drobson19
Having to "move on" before everyone really got the concept. Surprising to none, students did not move through the unit at the same time. It was hard to teach everyone at their own pace when everyone works at a different pace. Until I could clone myself through video.
We're finishing up our first self-paced unit in third grade math. Here are a list of things I didn't have to worry about for once (thank you @modernclassproj) @CBVRCE_NS@cbvrce_tech#edtech
Student engagement. My students loved it. They collaboratively played games, they played @Kahoot and @PlayBlooket daily to reinforce concepts and practice recall. They asked to work on math or conference when they completed other tasks so they could keep going.
I'm so impressed with the insight and discussions among my 3rd graders. They collaboratively graded writing samples with the Analytic Writing Rubric (in kid friendly language). They were tough but fair critics! @drobson19@CBVRCE_NS
