Happy the strike will be over but, apart from political grandstanding, I agree with the words from Ontario NDP in the house today: the Libs let this go on too long & now are bailing the CEC out with legislation that could let this all happened again next round. #StandWithFaculty
Students need to be given a choice. Go back and continue, full refund or restart the semester. It's not a 1 size fits all situation. Mental health and financial requirements need consideration. Accelerated course load and losing suicide prevention week is not ok for all
Striking Conestoga faculty members weren't allowed to take part in their students' graduation, but they showed up outside the venue, holding signs of support and congratulations. #collegestrike#standwithfaculty
Today Yeti feeling grim, and me hear many do too. Yeti promised to never joke about strike, strike not funny. Today, Yeti make Yeti's first joke ever, and it not about strike. Just to cheer you up if you need it. Ok you ready? Hope you like:
"WHAT YOU CALL A WET YETI? A WETI!"
You know something is critically wrong with the system when some striking faculty can't even pay their rent/mortgage and still #VoteToReject the CEC forced offer. Shame on the CEC for not negotiating in good faith. Negotiating is the best path to a resolution. #aBetterPlan
JP Hornick and Smokey Thomas just said the $5,000 'signing bonus' is CEC BS.
Hornick: "It's ridiculous, and frankly it's disgusting."
Thomas: "And this is just one of the reasons we are asking them to resign."
(Thunderous applause fills presser room)

To every single Ontario college faculty: today we did something incredible. We voted, like never before. We spoke the truth. We exercised our academic freedom. And we are making a profound difference.
So, Wynne sits around for 5 weeks of striking, 5 months after negotiations started, & she gives negotiations 5 hours after the forced offer is REJECTED or else? Give them the weekend, and if they fail then fire the CEC, but there must be a negotiated settlement. #standWithFaculty
Kudos to our team for keeping their calm on during such an onslaught of bad behaviour from this recalcitrant employer. Reprehensible actions designed to drive a wedge between students and faculty at Ontario colleges. #ShameOnCEC
BREAKING: Talks now back on between colleges & faculty, @OPSEU president Smokey Thomas tells reporters. Says province asked both sides to agree to media blackout. #collegestrike https://t.co/dYPVRCgoum
Hey @CollegesOntario#CEC, your students are suing you, your faculty in the strongest terms has said no to a bad deal. Sorry it has been such a tough day. Maybe you could learn from your mistakes before it is too late?
@local350#YouveMadeYourOwnBed...
CEC did you hear us? We voted NO! Your tactics did not divide us it motivated us... Has there ever been that high of a voter turn out? Over 10,000 of us voted NO! Feeling very proud to stand with my brother and sisters in this fight!
