A student of mine just saved the life of a man about to jump into a rushing river. My student calmly applied #MentalHealthFirstAid. She learned he's a dad, husband & son. She kept him safe till #mentalhealthcrisisteam arrived. She knew what to do. The next session is June 17th.

MD requested security staff prior to seeing patient. 4 arrived. Meanwhile the nurse put self in harm’s way entire shift & cared for pt on their own. Nurses need to stand up & demand safe working conditions. This MD did not take a chance. Why should you? #workplaceviolence

@abbyobenchain @LLynneIrwin@fordnation It's very difficult for both patients and staff. I had 17 patients the other night to care for and one said to me "wow you're late with meds tonight " I just smiled and said I'm sorry and gave her a hug. What else can I say?
#Nurses are continuously working short staffed. Double and triple the workload. Ontario has the lowest nurse to population ratio in Canada. SHOW SOME RESPECT @fordnation
