Our successful legal challenge means freeholder Grey GR is forced to fix serious building safety issues for residents in Vista Tower in Stevenage. https://t.co/gTD7qoqW0P
🚨HEAR WE GO AGAIN🚨
@hmtreasury colluding with Big Freeholders to thwart the will of the people and sabotage a Conservative manifesto pledge?
Nothing is in the bag until it is in the bag.
Leaseholders, brace yourselves for the great betrayal.
Another excellent piece. We campaigners seriously need to turn our attention to Treasury and No 10. @BimAfolami please read Who are the ‘shadowy’ lobbyists trying to save leasehold? https://t.co/qrgXINENGD
“Leaseholders want full control over the homes they’ve bought, their service charges and ultimately, as a result, their lives,” says campaigner Harry Scoffin.
The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill doesn’t democratise service charges. There’s still time! https://t.co/N1MKP7BSNi
Did you know that one of the largest resident ground rent investors - ARC Time - has paid no Corporation Tax since 2014 despite owning UK freeholds worth £180 million (at 31 March 2023)?
Every pound not paid in tax by ARC Time is an extra burden on hard-working UK taxpayers.
War, of some sort, has begun in the Red Sea and Yemen. The UK is involved. It is likely that there will be action for a while. Ignoring the ethics of the engagement, for now, what are the economic consequences? A thread……
Just finished updating @BBCLondonNews and @sebastianokelly about my defective new build.
Spoiler alert; all involved are still passing the buck whilst we have no consumer rights, and mounting legal bills.
The story is up on the web too.

@richard_jm Take the loss. It's painful, but the costs will just keep adding up otherwise. I sold well below value to a cash buyer just to get rid - development now has serious fire risks discovered, waking watches, remediation, nobody can sell. You never know what's around the corner.
To challenge rentier capitalism, the next Labour government should end the great leasehold con, writes @HarryScoffin.

Very pleased to see the government recognises the 'destabilising pensions' excuse for not reforming #Leasehold is complete nonsense. For those interested, @HarryScoffin's team did an excellent exposé on the matter @FreeLeasehlders
Interesting that Residential Freehold Association use arguments like those used against reforming private renting e.g. it will damage freeholder’s business. If a business relies on extracting rent from another party for an inadequate service, it’s not a functional business model
It’s astonishing that if you’re <30, went to uni, have 2 kids and are earning £50k per year, getting a 10% pay rise will only leave you £34 a month better off. No wonder there’s a generation of “quiet quitters” — why on earth would ppl in that position push themselves at work?
@dannybster Totally agree. Three rounds of layoffs in a year ain’t a good look. Shouldn’t they be looking at CEO’s track record?
And yet the markets eat it up… Spotify knew how shitty of them it looks to lay people off right before Christmas, so PR team distracted everyone with Wrapped.
In March, I was told by well-placed sources that a Leasehold Reform Bill wasn’t locked in for the King’s Speech. But, together, we made it happen. We politicised leasehold and woke up Westminster. Proof will be in the pudding. More campaign news coming up. https://t.co/uK4nDP20V1
'I'm a cash cow for a billionaire' says leaseholder paying £34,000 a year in service charges - I can’t even compute. 2700 a month? Nothing to see here @tpomb? https://t.co/5xnuwlaqQD
