My lab at BU is recruiting PhD students and possibly a postdoc this year!
We study humans & machines, centered around topics like meaning, generalization, evaluation methods and design, and the nature of computation and representation that underlie language and cognition.

Join us tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon for a sure-to-be-interesting talk by Dr. Carol Tenny https://t.co/RT5d2kukgO on “A syntax-semantics interface in an extraterrestrial language: a thought experiment”
For academics (especially White academics, but this goes for everyone) reading #BlackintheIvory and wondering how you can support Black students and academics here is a thread of things to consider a number which have been especially supportive of my own professional development
@linasigns Love this! Just read this article that would be relevant: Matlock, S. & DiAngelo, R. (2015). “We put it in terms of “not-nice”: White anti-racist parenting. Journal of Progressive Human Services, 26(2).
Question: how do you sign SEMIOTICS and SIGN (in semiotic term) in your sign language(s)?
In FinSL, as shown in video, at least signs MARK, SYMBOL, SIGN (semiotic) and SIGN (sign linguistic) look similar. #semiotics
@Qualtrics – I'm trying to figure out why the Timing function isn't working! I added it to a block of questions, but for whatever reason, the time/clicks data aren't being recorded in the excel output or the Reports. Any help appreciated!
@csmferrara
THIS. I've finally figured out my workflow and for all of my projects, I am trying to process all of my data in R – with lots of notes (avoiding any pre-processing in Excel). It's a lot of work at the beginning, but you'll thank yourself later when you re-run analyses
@HulyaAvci@kylehamilton I’d say: Invest early in efficient work flows: zotero, file management, backups, shortcuts, coding — the pay-off is massive in the long run. I myself did much of this too late and had some really clumsy projects that ended up costing lots of time.
