Happy Anniversary to the North American release of the original Final Fantasy on the NES 🎂🎉
Few could have predicted that this little NES RPG would become one of gaming's most beloved franchises. What are your memories with this great classic?
Empire Interactive has withdrawn from its 3DO project, citing the “likelihood of prolonged legal disputes” over fragmented IP rights. The company acquired The 3DO Company’s trademarks but not console rights.
The X68000 was one of the best home computers for enjoying classic Konami and Capcom arcade games. Its hardware was so powerful that, aside from the Neo Geo, it was virtually the only system capable of delivering near-perfect arcade conversions at the time.
Unfortunately, it was extremely expensive and sold exclusively in Japan, so very few people ever had the chance to experience it. Even today, decades after its release, the quality of its games is still incredibly impressive.
Ghouls ’n Ghosts is a perfect example. Compared to the Mega Drive and PC Engine versions, the X68000 port is on an entirely different level in terms of accuracy and overall quality. It’s still amazing to think that a game this good could fit on just two floppy disks.
I only have a few of my original ST floppy disks from my childhood. Left to right: 1. Yes, we bought some games. 2. First game I played on the ST, and 3. Courtesy of a (long lost) good friend who ran an Atari BBS nearby..
@dantemendes One of my favorite games. Got to play the deluxe version back in the day at a Boardwalk arcade in either Wildwood or Atlantic City, NJ. Well worth the $2 cost per play!
Alright folks it's the big one. I've always wanted to make music on the SEGA Mega Drive. How about you? I am beyond excited to introduce you to genmddj, a fully-featured tracker for SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis / Nomad that runs natively on hardware and emulation.
Literally the worst hardware design known to man. Not so bad if you only played single player but if you had to swap the mouse out for a joystick, not good. What were Atari thinking? Did you have to repair yours? Drop your horror stories below!
