6/8 What upsets me is that it took me months to work up the courage to start asking people unknown to me to caption videos. This is only the second time I have asked someone I don’t know. I don’t just ask for my own benefit; there are millions of other people who NEED captions.

5/8 People close to me know that I am (sometimes overly) sensitive, and I get upset easily. Therefore, this really threw me for a loop. I realise now that I’m not alone. Many people would be, and are, offended by this.

@EjOfficial …doing that, I explain clearly that BSL is an actual language, not just ‘fun gesture’. I also explain that some people use BSL as an alternative to English, and making fun of it is akin to making fun of someone speaking French, for example.

7/8 Yep, auto-generated captions are in no way accessible to us. It's difficult to decipher, and never, ever gets anything right. These days, there is a lot of free and easy technology to add captions to content. Even via apps, such as Kapwing.
