@marianoreb@DonWebOficial Portal de cobros cooperativa de agua, web, reclamos. Sistema de estudios jurídicos. Sistema de reparaciones. Saas de gimnasios. Webs institucionales. Emails corporativos importantísimos para los clientes. Desastre total.
Abrazo!
Your system need not be highly-available 95% of the time.
But when you need high-availability, it's a literal matter of profit or loss.
You just can't ignore it.
Therefore, I compiled a list of 7 must-know strategies for high-availability that can save your project:
(Don't forget to bookmark):
✅ Replication
- Involves duplicating data across different locations & data centers
- If one data center goes down, the other can support the workload
- Also, protects against data loss.
✅ Load Balancing
- Distribute traffic across multiple servers to share the load
- This ensures no single server gets overwhelmed by incoming requests
- Also, if certain servers go down, other servers are present to take over.
✅ Failover
- Automatic failover ensures a seamless switch to a standby system when the primary system goes down.
- This is also known Active-Passive approach
- It makes sure that the system is always available.
✅ Auto-scaling
- Sometimes a dramatic increase in load can result in a loss of availability
- Auto-scaling helps a system scale out based on demand.
- This ensures that the overall availability is not impacted
✅ Rate Limiting
- Denial-of-Service attacks can cripple a system’s availability.
- Rate limiting based on IP addresses or users can ensure that the system is not abused by a malicious actor
- This ensures that genuine users are not impacted.
✅ Disaster Recovery
- Disasters can happen over the course of a sufficiently long time period.
- A good disaster recovery plan is a must-have component of designing a highly-available system.
✅ Loose Coupling
- Tight coupling between system components is a recipe for problems.
- Design loosely coupled systems so that failure in one area does not bring down other parts of the system.
This is not an exhaustive list btw.
So - if you have any other strategy in mind, don't hesitate to mention it.

That's all for now!

@jlopezalcantar2@lemoncheli El 2001 no te recuerda nada? Bancos, regulados, "seguros". Los legales. Y mucha gente perdiendo absolutamente todo. Y quién se hizo cargo? Ah cierto, los bonos a 20 años.
