@SteinerTimer Thanks for your thoughts. Deans and campus leadership could try to pay less, but they are already hurting themselves by not paying enough. That’s why some admissions jobs remain open for far longer than they did just a decade ago, and the turnover is worse
I am THOROUGHLY enjoying my first summer break on the secondary school side…. But it has made something really apparent. COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROFESSIONALS NEED SOMETHING SIMILAR. Yes, I understand that tours, open houses, continued work on this fall’s class, etc.still happens 1/6
Exactly!!!! Although I am “off” I am still planning, writing, organizing, etc. The difference I’ve been availed the time&space in order to do it. It is allowing me to reflect on my “wins” of last school yr, grapple with my losses, venture into what is special about my new seniors
Take a minute to read Jeremy's 🧵. He's not advocating for summers off. Taking time to plan, recharge, train, and be ready for the next cycle means creating the space for those things to be done well.
Take care of them now, or pay for it later. Students don’t magically find your school and enroll. There was a team that got them there. Don’t take them for granted. 6/6
That’s what I’m hearing from entry lvl admissions counselors and middle mgmt. Every single goal your college/university has (which is inevitably linked to enrollment) falls on the shoulders of one of the least paid and appreciated parts of your community. Admission staff 5/6
@PremierLacrosse TJ Malone didn’t make the all star team? Brendan O’Neill did, even though he has disappeared in multiple games this year?!?!?! What in the world…..
