250 yrs ago we transported people to Australia for being desperate and vulnerable enough to steal bread. Today weβve decided to deport others to Rwanda for being desperate and vulnerable enough to seek safety on our shores. These responses say much more about us than about them!
@paulbayes I love the fact that I count as an immigrant having been born in Burundi. Funnily enough I have never been the subject of hatred and vitriol aimed at fellow immigrants. Clearly I am the right sort - or maybe just whiteβ¦
@ChineMcDonald And I completely know you are not saying βI am too distinguished to face thisβ but some of the people who say you should get over yourself would never dream of saying that to a white man
@ChineMcDonald Awful! And youβre Chine McDonald for goodness sake! If it had been an equivalently distinguished white man who had been asked for his invitation(and it never would have been!) imagine the reaction!
@RevAndrewRumsey Thanks Andrew. As someone who has only just dared to acknowledge his place in the LGBT community because of the shame of denial that so many Christians of my generation had to endure, your words are hopeful and welcoming
@charliebelllive@LambethConfNews@LambethConf I am not convinced that we should have been rehearsing Lambeth 1.10 in the beginning anyway. The fights over it led to division and GAFCON - why bring up all those references again?
@SimonGCutmore The hurt and bewilderment the Call has provoked was so unnecessary and ill-judged. We know this is an area of disagreement and the C of E pretends to be in a time of discernment about it. So why on earth produce a statement like this now?
