Selective disclosure means showing a verifier only the information required for a specific decision.
Consider a company that needs to prove a supplier payment was valid without making the supplier, invoice price and treasury balance public.
The private side of the system may hold the invoice, identities, amount and authorization records. From that data, it can generate a cryptographic proof for a narrower statement:
– The invoice was approved
– The recipient passed the required checks
– The payment stayed within the authorized limit
– The hidden amount matched the approved obligation
– The resulting balance update followed the agreed rules
The verifier checks the proof and the selected public inputs. They do not need to receive the complete invoice or inspect every piece of data used to produce it.
This protects the underlying commercial information, but it does not establish that the original records were truthful.
If the invoice, identity credential or compliance result entered the system incorrectly, the proof can still confirm that the computation followed those incorrect inputs. The product therefore needs trusted data sources, clear issuers and a way to bind each proof to the correct transaction.
Selective disclosure reduces how much information must be shared. It does not remove the need to verify where that information came from.
Most EVM smart contracts do not calculate with decimal numbers. They calculate with integers.
A token may display 1.25 units, but the contract stores that balance as a whole number of smaller base units. The token’s decimals tell the interface how to display it, not how the arithmetic works.
That distinction creates some expensive edge cases ↓
You can keep only one:
– Higher maximum bet
– Fewer players
– Personal dealer
– Faster service
– Table rules agreed in advance, if the casino accepts them
Which one improves the session most?
@Zylo_Ecosystem Definitely the decisions that had to be revisited during the development process. What’s interesting is the team’s rationale - why they ended up taking a different path🙌
In 2014, the Hard Rock in Las Vegas stopped Ben Affleck from playing blackjack.
Affleck later confirmed that he had learned card counting. He watched the cards already dealt. When the remaining deck became favourable, he increased his bet. Eventually the casino noticed.
No hidden device. No marked cards. Counting itself is legal. The casino still has the right to refuse the game, so Affleck was welcome to stay and play something else. Blackjack was off the menu.
One of the few casino skills that can move the odds also comes with a peculiar prize: an invitation to stop using it.
A borrower misses a payment in a tokenized credit product. What changes?
The answer comes from the loan agreement and the token terms, not from the smart contract alone.
The product first needs to determine whether the payment is late, within a cure period or already qualifies as a default.
You can take one weapon into the match:
– First serve
– Aggressive return
– First shot after the serve
– Movement
– Composure under pressure
