@Tablesalt13 No one is investing in Venezuela. When Trump first took it all the oil execs said. We are not interested.
Chevron has some joint ventures which go back to 1996.
The only way they invest is if USA keeps fighting Iran for decades and keeps oil above $80.
@Weird_Canadian The aluminum industry in Canada does not need a reduction in tariffs. They are already selling g everything they make. The USA companies are just paying more. Aluminum in the USA is the highest price in the world.
@JayGenXer Mexico already imports Chinese cars. Just do 1 minute of research. It literally take 1 minute.
They import about 400,000 cars a year from China.
Canada is importing up to 70,000.
Hell google imported 2,600 Chinese vehicles into the USA this year so far.
@ChadimirPoutine This is a big fat nothing burger. Two buns with nothing in the middle.
I doubt any oil companies want to spend a couple $100 billion to get this oil. The break even price will probably be over $60 / barrel.
@USUTUKU@Tablesalt13 Not really. Eastern Canada is connected to the ocean and can import oil for anywhere.
Canada is also building 6 ice breakers that will open up the arctic supply routes. It will probably take a decade.
@nanrob3942@mapleblooded They are subsidizing profits for the farms and the people that work in the industry. They are not subsidizing the buyers of the meat. It sells for a premium.
@Tablesalt13 This is a nothing burger. Venezuela production cost is $40-$60 per barrel.
Oil sands are the lowest cost production in North America.
$100 billion needs to be spent on infrastructure and is more then a decade away of getting to 3 million barrels a day.
@ashatku Did you know the USA sells Canada more vehicles than it buysοΏΌ? USA does better on the auto trade than Canada. This is the same for almost every item. Canada buys more stuff.
What we dont buy is energy. We have an obscene amount!
@iamrobinskies Tipically the more someone talks the more they are lying. Truth generally does not need a long explanation.
Greer even said they put a point in the deal about French packaging. He said β it wasnβt a hard line thing. We would have let it goβ
Clearly lying.
@Tablesalt13 The plan for 6 ice breakers built in Quebec is clearly to open up an arctic passage to ship from Manitoba to Europe and maybe Asia.
Next will be a pipeline to Churchill from Alberta and railway lines from Ontario to Churchill.
We will still sell the USA energy but also the world
@Tablesalt13 The problem Canada has is logistics. If the USA doesnβt want our raw materials. Logistics is an easy problem to solve. Look at Australian beef. Shipped accross the globe and it is still lower price and profitable.
@Tablesalt13 Not really. Canadians buy things from USA brands. Once customer leave the brand they typically donβt come back. These brands have spent fortunes to get customers. Now they are loosing them. USA buys raw materials. They are fungible. Now one cares where it came from.
@autism_raising@Tablesalt13 I donβt have a problem that the USA is trying to look out for themselves. We passed on it.
They are mad we passed on it.
Trump was the one to force negotiations back to the table. Canada is fine with the current tariffs. Trump is asking for the deal. Not Canada.
@nanrob3942@mapleblooded If you want to make an argument that no business should get subsidies thatβs fine. That is just not reality. All businesses sectors get subsidies.
