Hopefully his appointment has nothing to do with the state of the Super Rugby competition (apparently they still play this competition) nor that he lost the Boks out of Super Rugby, nor the "where are we" state of NZ Rugby. WR likes to pick the leading lights of the game 🙄
🚨 MASSIVE 🚨Europe Fires a Warning Shot at the Dollar: Global Trust in U.S. System Shakes, EU Joins De-Dollarization Drive
The U.S. Treasury market is facing an unprecedented shock. The 30-year U.S. Treasury yield has surged close to 5%, a level rarely seen, clearly indicating that global investors are losing confidence in America’s financial system. Rising yields mean one thing: heavy selling and falling demand for U.S. debt.
What makes this moment critical is Europe’s open shift away from the dollar.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reminded the world of the 1971 Nixon Shock, when U.S. President Richard Nixon delinked the dollar from gold overnight. Her message was blunt: the global system has been broken for decades, and today it has become a necessity—not an option—for Europe to reduce dependence on a foreign currency, clearly pointing at the U.S. dollar.
This was not just a speech. Denmark’s state pension fund announced it will fully exit U.S. Treasuries by month-end, citing lack of trust in the U.S. economy. While its exposure is only about $100 million, analysts see this as a symbolic warning shot.
The stakes are massive. Europe alone holds around 40% of foreign-held U.S. Treasuries (over $3.5 trillion). Including stocks and other assets, Europe’s total exposure to the U.S. financial system is estimated between $10–12.5 trillion. Even a slowdown in new purchases could severely damage America’s ability to finance its ballooning deficits.
Markets are already reacting:
🔹U.S. Treasuries are being dumped; yields are spiking.
🔹U.S. stock markets saw up to $1–1.25 trillion wiped out in a single day.
🔹Gold and silver prices are surging as investors flee to physical assets.
🔹U.S. financial media is openly calling it “Sell America.”
Investor Ray Dalio describes this phase as a “capital war”, where foreign buyers, especially from Europe and Asia, are no longer willing to fund U.S. deficits. The fear is simple: if the U.S. could rewrite rules in 1971, it can do so again.
The U.S. now carries nearly $39 trillion in debt, with annual deficits nearing $2 trillion, a large portion financed by foreign capital. If Europe follows China and India’s strategy, stop buying new U.S. debt and let old bonds mature, America will be forced to borrow at much higher interest rates, sharply increasing bankruptcy risks.
Europe is no longer quietly uncomfortable with the dollar system, it is openly questioning it. Whether this is a pressure tactic or the beginning of a genuine shift toward a de-dollarised world, one fact is undeniable: the old U.S.-centric financial order is cracking, and the warning shots have already been fired.
What a weird game in Cape Town. Swirling wind, wild referee interpretations (both sides), turning down kicks at goal, so many stoppages. So many knock ons.
Weird indeed. Intense and frustrating, but I cant stop watching
This is the most desultory presentation we've ever heard from a POTUS in the wake of such a momentous and fraught announcement.
He's just riffing, spouting a bunch of certifiable BS about his incursions in American cities. This is really terrifying.
It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.
It’s about oil and regime change.
And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from Epstein + skyrocketing healthcare costs.
The silence from the rest of the world following the illegal US invasion of Venezuela is deafening and utterly beyond belief. Not a single voice of outrage asking why, how dare you, who do you think you are. This is a massive step backwards for the global community.
Frankly, Eben Etzebeth should be criminally charged for his assault on the Wales rugby player. A red card is not enough. He should also be totally banned from rugby. His conduct is scary and may intimidate players in future matches. 😳
😆 "That is cheeky!"
Before the SVNS final between Australia and New Zealand, the mascot whipped out a Springboks jersey while running off the field 😂
The tournament heads to Cape Town this weekend 🇿🇦

Sad to see the Boks celebrating after winning a match, especially against Ireland in Ireland? 🤔 I'm sure Ireland would have celebrated if they'd won, so why not SA? Also looking forward to 2027 - I'm of course talking about the World Cup...which tournament are you talking about?
Sad to see South Africa celebrating that November international result like a World Cup Final
Will see what happens in 2027, when it really counts and in a competition when Ireland really shine...
Only wrong decision that half was not to bin the SA 10, all our yellows completely justified
Actually James Ryan’s should’ve been a permanent red, that was wrong too
They’re miles better than us. Wake up call is finally here
