Over the last months, I've ended up accumulating a number of those little clasps that come with masks. Turns out they make satisfying tessellations and other shapes. π
Technically Wednesday's experiment, but I played with AR.js to make a QR code that loads an AR experience. The model itself is a 3D scan from MyMiniFactory shared by the Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East, figuring you could do a mini exhibit with a much of these maybe.
Found an old 3D scanner abandoned in one of the cupboards in my room. Managed to get it working enough to get this out of the 3D printer. Pretty happy with the result for an initial attempt. Will have to experiment with what else can be scanned and then printed.

If you balance this sort of d8 on one of its points and let go, the expected value is still always going to be 4.5, the same as rolling any fair d8.
I was reminded yesterday that my favourite arrangement of numbers on a d8 doesn't sum opposite faces to 9. Instead, opposite faces are consecutive (1-2). Any 4 faces around a point always add to 18, any 4 around an odd face (including the odd) add to 19, and 17 if it's an even.
The space was new as of the start of last year, and I've only coordinated the space since the middle of last year. Goal for this year is create activities to encourage students to come in to learn the space during breaks.
First day back was slow - students don't start until next week. Got a new sign to advertise the space which was nice.
Not currently in a teaching role, I work with students to use 3D printers, laser cutters and a green screen room to work on creative projects for any subject.
Looking through my old tweets to see if I'd said anything about the dice thing, I found my teaching prac daily tweets. Hasn't happened since I graduated.
Maybe it's time to start that up again, as record of what I'm getting up to and possibly as a way to stimulate my creativity.
@shskaercher I wonder if they're so divided because of the way d100's are done: with a second d10 with 00, 10, 20, ..., 90, so having a 10 on the first d10 would make it weird (rolling a 20 and a 9 is clearly 29 just taking the tens and the units, but a 20 and a 10 means you add to get 30).π€

105 minute long theory classes are a struggle to get through. Anyone have ideas on some good brain break activities that take 5-10 minutes for a class of yr 9's?
