“People will no longer be the same.”
Heartbreaking words from our colleague in Gaza.
We are calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access across Gaza, and the immediate and safe release of all abducted and detained children.
The climate crisis is a threat to children’s rights.
I welcome General Comment 26, which provides strong guidance to every country on the #ClimateAction needed to protect the world’s children from the worsening impacts of climate change.

The drought crisis in the Horn of Africa has left children hungry and vulnerable. Thanks to rapid action by @UNICEF in 2022, we were able to provide life-saving aid to communities across the region. With your support this year, we can help children recover and thrive.
Virtually every child on the planet is already affected by the climate crisis.
#ClimateAction efforts must include young people’s needs & ideas for solutions.
Inaction is not an option.
We must go further and faster.

Today, after yesterday's #IPCC report, everything is back to normal – as always. We continue to ignore the climate crisis as if nothing happened. Our societies are still in denial, and those in power go on with their never ending quests to maximise profits. We cannot afford this.
So, the #IPCC Synthesis Report summary for policymakers (SPM) has finally be approved, 2.5 days later than scheduled, without the participation of many developing countries (who were not funded to stay longer). A better inclusivity is part of my programme as IPCC Chair candidate!
A fund for loss and damage is essential – but it’s not an answer if the climate crisis washes a small island state off the map – or turns an entire African country to desert.
The world still needs a giant leap on climate ambition.
#COP27 has taken an important step towards justice.
I welcome the decision to establish a loss and damage fund and to operationalize it in the coming period.
Clearly this will not be enough, but it is a much-needed political signal to rebuild broken trust.
Final decision at #COP27 on #LossAndDamage is welcome.Let’s make its priority to protect the children most affected by #ClimateCrisis.
But that will not be enough if world leaders do not also commit to
-keep 1.5 degree targets within reach and
-double funding for Adaptation
I welcome the decision made by leaders at #COP27 to establish a loss and damage fund - a huge relief for children and families impacted by climate change.
But more needs to be done. Countries must drastically reduce emissions - this is the only long-term solution to the crisis.
2022, deep into a planetary emergency, and no university in the world is systematically teaching all students about the climate crisis
This is great news, and another big win for activists

We asked young climate advocates how climate change has impacted their lives.
This is what they answered, and their message for world leaders at #COP27. @voicesofyouth
We're hosting an event at #COP27 this weekend - join us!
UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador @vanessa_vash will be speaking up for climate justice - RSVP here. 👇
"We address you standing in solidarity with the most vulnerable, and those at least fault for the climate crisis; the worlds children"
Powerful words from 64 member countries at #COP27
Now for powerful #ClimateAction#foreverychild
The #ClimateCrisis is a child rights crisis. We have to ensure that #children are at the center of the climate agenda. We need rapid action now - the world’s children are counting on us.

I have just warned global leaders at #COP27:
We are on a highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator.
Our planet is fast approaching tipping points that will make climate chaos irreversible.
We need urgent #ClimateAction.
I know a lot of ‘other’ important things are happening, but we must pay attention.
The #climatecrisis is here & accelerating. Every child alive & yet born will live it.
We must adapt social services now
We must move from fossil fuels now
Leaders must act now
#COP27
A new report from UNICEF estimates that nearly all the world’s children — more than 2 billion — will be exposed to high heat-wave frequency by 2050.
https://t.co/ztBXRCo2XU
The #ClimateCrisis will affect ALL children.
#Heatwaves will affect ALL children
Your children, my children, all children.
Leaders must Protect, Prepare, and Priortize all children in #climateaction, now.
#COP27
1 in 3 children live in countries that face extreme high temperatures and almost 1 in 4 children are exposed to high heatwave frequency, and it is only going to get worse. https://t.co/l6N0sJIV04
