The more you worry, the more you strive, the more you actually move away from what you want to “be”. This is a common complex for a high achiever. The idea is that achievers are so used to “doing” that they fail to simple “be”.
Doing is the heart of the achiever curse.
I understand this concept deeply because I was once this way. I may have cognitively understood empathy, compassion and love but I never embodied empathy, compassion or love.
Similar to the art of Muay Thai, @LawrenceKenshin once said to me: The more killer mindset that one adopts, which is required for elite fighters, the less ability they have to love.
To compete means to be ego-driven.

The same mechanism exists for high achievers in general.
You will never achieve happiness when you constantly reach for it. You must be it.
I spend a lot of my time trying to be the man that he was and to fill his shoes but I'm just so lost and tired and I just wish that he was here to tell me what to do.
4 years ago I lost my grandpa. Although I've come to terms with it, there are still days where I wish that I can talk to him one more time. He was my main support system and everyday I can feel myself slipping further and further without him.
I'm very grateful for all my friends who's reached out to try to help me feel better or just to check in. I don't know who or where I can reach out to to find advice that my grandpa will give.
I try my best to do what is right for people and I find it hard to say no. I spend my time caring for others that don't care for me back. But I continue doing it and it's so draining and I just want to give up. Please. Give me energy
@lawyertherapist You and me both. One small inconvenience away.
