I will only take you seriously sir if you’ve contributed to the improvement of the legal profession.

You cannot be a SAN, be very successful, earning 100s of millions or even billions of naira in legal fees and yet be paying your lawyers peanuts in the range of 30k, 50k to 100k while you’re driving multimillion naira cars and living in multimillion naira houses. The same applies to other SANs. You can’t be treating lawyers in your offices as modern day slaves and be decrying the state of the country and the profession.

Let the change begin with you. You can’t be talking about falling standards when you’re one of the contributors to the fallen standards in the legal profession.

In 471 BC Athens, one of their greatest politicians and army generals, Themistocles, found himself in big trouble.

Ancient Athenians had this bizarre custom in which citizens would vote annually to banish a politician or influential person who was perceived as a threat to democracy...

And Themistocles was on the ballot!

If you "win" this vote, you will be banished from Athens for 10 years.

You see, Themistocles was a great and distinguished guy. He made a lot of contributions to the Athenian military.

Most notably in the decisive naval battle against the Persians, in 408 BC (The Battle of Salamis).

And as a politician, he played a significant role in the development of Athenian democracy.

He advocated for the empowerment of ordinary citizens and championed the idea of meritocracy, where individuals would be rewarded based on their abilities and contributions rather than their social status.

However, he was on the ballot...

When the votes were being cast, an illiterate man who didn't personally know who Themistocles was approached him.

He asked for his help to write down the name Themistocles on the "ostracon."

The ostracon is a piece of broken pottery they cast their votes with. It is where the English word "ostracize" is derived from.

Surprised, Themistocles asked why he was voting to banish the man named Themistocles. The illiterate man replied, "I don't know him, but I am tired of hearing his name everywhere I go".

Lesson: When you become successful, you will inevitably inspire envy and jealousy even in people who don't know you.

Just realize that this is unavoidable and a part of the territory. It is the price you must pay for standing out.

One thing people don’t know is that if a Nigerian employee dies, his/her spouse is supposed to receive 30-90% of his earnings from NSITF, paid monthly till death.

The problem is either many don’t know this, or the company’s HR is too lazy to complete the claim process

Were you deaf, dumb and blind at that time? It is spectacular foolishness for you to say Northerners are targets of the okada ban in Lagos.
