🛸March 16, 1957. A 300-foot silver craft supposedly lands in a field in Alexandria, Virginia.

Two local police officers arrive. The door opens, and out steps a normal-looking man in a silver-and-gold jumpsuit. He smiles, waves, and says in perfect English: “I need to see the President.”

His name is Valiant Thor.

He claims to be from Venus, “the morning and evening star” of the Bible. According to the story, within hours he is in the Oval Office with President Eisenhower.

Thor says Earth has been watched for thousands of years, but the atomic bomb has forced his people to intervene. His “High Council,” a federation of many worlds, offers to help end war, hunger and disease if the nuclear powers agree to disarm.

Eisenhower supposedly declines. Humanity isn’t ready. It would ruin the economy.

Then the story gets even stranger. Thor allegedly remains at the Pentagon for three years, sharing advanced technology and demonstrating his supposedly indestructible “miracle garment,” which weighs just six ounces and can survive bullets, acid, lasers and diamond drills.

Thor’s closest human confidant is Dr. Frank Stranges, a Christian minister who believed Jesus and the angels were extraterrestrial beings. According to Stranges, Thor’s real mission was not simply to give humanity advanced technology, but to return mankind to God. In exchange, humanity would be shown “the wonders of the universe.”

Stranges later claimed that he was poisoned, beaten and nearly killed on multiple occasions, only for Thor to appear with antidotes or healing abilities. In 1968, he said Thor took him aboard a massive saucer near San Felipe, Mexico, where he encountered interiors resembling a luxury resort, with living, cloud-like floors and virtually no right angles.

Stranges published the entire story in Stranger at the Pentagon in 1967, claiming Thor’s spacecraft, Victor One, was still cloaked near Lake Mead and that thousands of people including government employees knew the truth.

It is one of the strangest contactee stories of the 20th century: Venusian space brothers, biblical extraterrestrials, Pentagon meetings, secret technology and a message of spiritual transformation.

But what actually holds up?

The photographs exist. The book exists. But important parts of the story surrounding Thor’s identity and Stranges’ academic credentials don’t withstand scrutiny. And the basic plot bears an uncanny resemblance to The Day the Earth Stood Still, released just six years earlier, with a heavy dose of evangelical Christianity layered on top.

Whether Valiant Thor was ever anything more than a character in one of UFOlogy’s strangest myths, the message attributed to him remains surprisingly simple:

Be kind. Keep an open mind. Serve one another.

The story may tell us nothing about Venusians.

But it tells us a great deal about what some people in the early UFO era hoped extraterrestrial contact would mean.

Not just advanced technology.

A different way of being human.

She was always with him.

On September 27, 2019, Oriales Rubio passed away peacefully at the age of 88, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply and worked so hard to support.

After her passing, Marco shared words that touched countless hearts:

“God blessed her with almost 89 years of life filled with love. The love she had for her children is but a glimpse of the even greater love God has for His.”

From a woman who worked humble jobs to support her family... to seeing her son become one of America’s most recognized leaders — it is a story of faith, perseverance, and hope.

Only God can write stories like that.

Today, let us take a moment to remember Oriales Rubio and the countless mothers whose sacrifices helped shape the future of their children.
