Why Twitter can Change the 'Media Outrage Culture':
Cable News:
Outrage = viewership
Viewership = more ads dollars
Online Media:
Outrage = more readers
More readers = more ads views and clicks
Social Media:
Outrage = followers & engagement
Followers & Engagement = money
What if we could change that model somehow on Twitter?
- What if it wasn't outrage that got amplified, but instead dialogue?
- This is what Twitter's algorithm is actually trying to do. It's amplifying discussion over likes and retweets.
- For all those people attacking Twitter, Twitter is actually trying to solve the issues that no one else dared to touch.
You are MISSING the bigger picture.
@nationalpost Lots of ways to describe this bill including: awkward, clumsy, naive, over reach, dumb and just plain bad legislation. Would be helpful to consult those that were going to be helped. 20th century policies don’t work in the 21st century.
