@shaisecunda @BartovOmer The author now writes he learned of the poem form Dubnov's "excellent essay." The original omission is not plagiarism, but sloppy scholarship. When the omission is a source that represents a lot of research, the colleague must be credited; otherwise, a mentsh gives credit.

@shaisecunda @BartovOmer Intellectual sources? So aside from a lot of Bartov, I see three sources that have been cited a lot since October 7. And they have little to do with the theme of the article, which I felt was way too long. But I get that an Anglo might not be aware of that.

@shaisecunda @BartovOmer Not obscure after October 7. Long articles in every Israeli media outlet. For all I know neither Dubnov nor Bartov heard of the poem beforehand. And every educated Israeli knows the famous Dayan hesped. Both are now canonical, according to (almost) sabra Rachel Manekin.

@shaisecunda @BartovOmer Bartov's piece is much more autobiographical, and much more about his experiences when he visited Israel. In fact, the whole point of the piece was his visit to Israel. Ever educated Israeli knows the Dayan hesped, and the Eldan poem got a lot of media.

Israel/Palestine has to become a nation state of its citizens, and a place that welcomes Israelis and Palestinians who wish to return. It needs to replace Jewish privilege with justice and equality for its citizen.

@YousefMunayyer B-G thought that by expelling Palestinians he was securing Israel. Some of those refugees ended up in the
West. and, like other immigrants, have seen their children and grandchildren flourish. Many will occupy positions of influence. And the narrative and policies will change.
