Rory already shared the finished time-lapse on his Instagram page.
This is what came before it.
I want to take you inside the creation process.
About 20% complete.
Six months of work started here.
Probably one of the hardest drawings I’ve ever done.
And honestly, most of what you’re looking at right now doesn’t even matter yet. It’ll all change.
This part is just about getting the foundation right.
And at this point, none of the crazy stuff is even in yet.
Scroll through the images to see the early progress.
No crowd. Not much detail. No atmosphere.
Just structure.
I also included a video so you can see the pace of drawing a piece like this. It’s an incredibly slow process as each stroke of the pencil is carefully considered and deliberate.

Rory McIlroy commissioned this pencil drawing after last year's Masters Tournament.
The artist (@KeeganHall) provided context on Reddit:
• Spent 6+ months working on it
• Estimates 600-800+ total hours
• Worked on it 6-7 days each week
• Uses a Pentel Graphgear mechanical pencil
Hall says this piece was incredibly challenging because so much detail went into such a small area. For context, the original is smaller than 30x22, so each face in the crowd is essentially a quarter of the size of a fingernail.
This is the second piece he has done for Rory.
Famous Wartime quotes by US presidents:

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." - FDR
"A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on." - Truman
“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall” - Reagan
“Open the fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah” - the crazy one
Gary Woodland… No words.
Tackled adversity head-on. Never wavered in staying true to his values.
And a champion once again.
An all-time great Jayhawk and Kansas.
