For public school students in Florida, about $10,000 of the annual cost per student goes towards teacher and staff salaries and benefits.

Teachers and staff members get to spend their earnings on whatever they want, but homeschooling parents are required to spend all of their $10,000 per child on educational expenses like instructional materials, tutoring, classes, testing, books, etc.

If you're a parent in Florida who homeschools 4 children instead of working a full time job, why shouldn't you be able to spend that $40,000 on anything your family needs - just like a public school teacher who earns $40,000 per year that they can spend however they like?

This policy sounds like it's leveling the playing field but it's really still requiring homeschoolers to accept a much lower standard of living than families involved the public schooling system.
