I’m Gen Z. I work 50 hours a week at my blue collar job and make right around 100k. My wife is able to stay at home and homeschool our kids which is incredible and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I shouldn’t have a budget this tight on 100k/year in America. I shouldn’t have to drive a 20 year old truck with no A.C. on 100k/year in America. I shouldn’t have to pick and choose which bills I pay on time on 100k/year in America.

Not to change the subject from burritos but when I was earning poverty wages in my 20s I used to go to Subway nearly every day and get a footlong Italian sub for 5 dollars. It was generally the only big meal I would eat in a day.

If I was hungry later at night, I could always swing by McDonald’s and grab a chicken sandwich for a dollar.

All of these people are screaming about “eating at home” but I basically never made meals at home in those days and I was able to get by. You used to be able to survive on low wages without making meals from scratch. If that’s not possible anymore then it’s a sign that our standard of living is declining. That’s a problem. You should care about that.

Anyway, I went to a Subway recently and that same sandwich was 13 dollars. McDonald’s, of course, doesn’t sell anything for a dollar anymore.

It’s a shame that DOGE is still not in place. Because if it was, @elonmusk would ask the next obvious question to the DHS secretary and our border czar: now that the border is secure, why aren’t our highest-trained, best-equipped federal immigration officers being redirected to the interior to conduct the mass deportations voters demanded?

Instead, they’re staring at a secure border, their skills and resources sitting idle.

Elon would see this as pure government waste, talent and equipment not being used to their full potential.

The job isn’t done at the border; it’s just beginning inside the country!

I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours at Taco Bell with my friends eating burritos and drinking baja blast when I was in high school. It always came to $5.18 exactly. Before I was 16 and employed, I used to literally count out change and stuff it all in my pocket. I just checked what it would cost now, and it’s like twice as expensive.

Yeah, I am. I do actually feel entitled to the same standard of living that I once had, and that my parents and grandparents CERTAINLY had. And I’m certainly not going to be gaslit by the same people who oversaw our decline into just accepting it.

Their spiritual leftism is evident. “REAL men make their own burritos” just as “REAL men aren’t scared of crackheads on the subway.” Give me a break.

I get that you’re MARRIED and a FATHER and that’s really freaking based, and I hope you enjoy making budget burritos at home, but young people aren’t going to accept that they’re not allowed to enjoy their youth in the same ways they implicitly understand previous generations were able to.

There is an Al’s Toy Barn aisle of these Tough Love Conservative DadsTM who curiously only apply that animosity towards young white men. In the next breath, they praise the immigrants who leech off our country for “just wanting a better life.” Even romanizing their “work ethic” because they keep seeing them in construction vests.

The CPI (Chipotle Price Index) does actually matter regardless of how you’d like to stomp your feet. Fortunately, Trump & Vance are aware of this fully, and in particular of how to actually address these concerns properly. But Neocons want to spoil it for one last chance to really stick it to the young people who hate them for failing to stop literally any of our problems. Enjoy it while you can I suppose.
